
Champions Trophy Rules
LAND BASED CHAMPIONS TROPHY
To be eligible for this trophy anglers must land the 5 species allocated to this trophy, within the calendar year commencing 1st January, from any land, beach, rock, fixed structure or platform.
The fishing boundaries are the clubs boundaries, which are from Matakona River Mouth around to Whanganui River.
All nominated fish species must be caught using conventional rod and reel, hand line or casting method, with a maximum of 3 hooks.
All fish entered must be submitted with a clear picture on a measuring mat, with date and where caught, to uhcfish@gmail.com and all species must abide with MPI Rules. (Eligible fish measured from lip to V in tail)
In case of more than one angler landing all 5 species, the angler recording the most species longer than the other, will be deemed to be the champion for the year.
The 5 species are :
- Snapper
Kingfish
Gurnard
Kahawai
Moki
BOAT BASED CHAMPIONS TROPHY
To be eligible for this trophy, anglers must land the 8 species allocated to this trophy, within the calendar year commencing 1st January, from any floating, motorised platform, vehicle or vessel.
The fishing boundaries are the clubs boundaries, which are from Matakona River Mouth around to Whanganui River.
All nominated fish species must be caught using conventional rod and reel, electric rod and reel combo sets, designed to be held by an angler for boat fishing, or hand line, with a maximum of 3 hooks.
All fish entered must be submitted with a clear picture on a measuring mat, with date and where caught, to uhcfish@gmail.com and all species must abide with MPI Rules. (Eligible fish measured from lip to V in tail)
In case of more than one angler landing all 8 species, the angler recording the most species longer than the other, will be deemed to be the champion for the year.

- Snapper
- Kingfish
- Tarakihi
- Blue nose
- Blue cod
- Kahawai
